Multiage Learning Means a Lot
A multiage classroom has two to three age groups of students learning together, but without specific grade level distinctions. It celebrates and embraces diversity with the belief that all children have the potential to learn, but all learn at different rates. Multiage classrooms are learner centered and meet multiple and diverse learning needs where students learn at their own pace and their own academic level. Students support and learn from each other in a collaborative environment which encourages leadership and mentoring roles.Teachers use a dynamic curriculum which is based on both student interests and learning goals. Students stay with one teacher for at least two years which allows for a more continuous program, as well as fostering a sense of community between teachers, parents and students.
